Some Like it Hot character actor and father of Jamie Lee Curtis, Tony Curtis succumbed to cardiac arrest in Las Vegas on September 29 . He was 85 years old. Cardiac arrest as cause of death was confirmed by the Clark County coroner.

Earlier, Curtis, in 1994, was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. He even almost died in 2006 because of pneumonia and suffered from coma for a considerable amount of time.

He was born Bernard Schwartz. He was with the Navy during World War II. Most notable during his lifetime was the series of movies he had made and the controversies he was involved in during his previous marriages.

He starred opposite Marilyn Monroe and also earned an Oscar nomination for The Defiant Ones. Other movies he took part in are Sweet Smell of Success, Criss Cross, Spartacus, Houdini, and his last movie, David and Fatima.

Tony Curtis married six times; the most celebrated with Janet Leigh. They had two children, Kelly and Jamie Lee Curtis. He is survived by his wife, Jill Vandenburg and their children.
