PITTSBURGH, PA -- The Outcomes Registry for Cardiac Conditions in Athletes (ORCCA) study aims to examine cardiovascular outcomes, mental health and quality of life, and sports eligibility decision‐making in competitive athletes aged 14 to <35 years diagnosed with a cardiovascular condition at risk for SCA.

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is partnering with researchers from around the world to prospectively monitor athletes with potentially life‐threatening cardiovascular conditions and genetic heart diseases, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy, long QT syndrome, aortopathies, and other arrythmia syndromes. Athletes must be participating in competitive sports at the high school, collegiate, semiprofessional, professional, elite, or national level at the time of enrollment or within the last 2 years. Athletes with a qualifying cardiac diagnosis who return to sport, stop sport voluntarily, or are excluded from sport are all eligible. There is a $100 gift for athletes who complete enrollment, and a $50 gift to those who complete follow-up surveys every 6 months. Data from the ORCCA study will inform exercise guidance and the management of adolescents and young adults diagnosed with cardiac disease. More information can be found on the ORCCA study website. To register yourself or a patient, simply click the red ‘Register’ tab on the homepage. Thank you for supporting the ORCCA study!
