Jenny SnyderThe Jennifer Lynn Snyder Teen Heart Foundation is hosting its third annual fundraising event on Thursday evening, August 11 at Pinstripes in Northbrook. Proceeds will fund the creation of a Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) program in Northbrook.

A PAD program places publicly accessible automated external defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the community, while educating residents about cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), AED use and the importance of having an emergency action plan. ABC 7’s Emmy award-winning anchor Ravi Baichwal will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event.

The Jennifer Lynn Snyder Teen Heart Foundation was established in memory of 17-year-old Jenny Snyder who died of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) during soccer practice on a Glenview, Illinois field in August 2008. An AED, which is the only definitive treatment for SCA, was not available on-site.

“By establishing a Public Access Defibrillation program in Northbrook we can ensure that lives will be saved,” said JLS Teen Heart Foundation Junior Board Member Mandi Carozza. “That will be Jenny’s legacy.”

The Pinstripes event, Bowling for Jenny, will run Thursday, August 11, from 6PM to 9PM. Tickets will include food, drinks, bowling, and a silent auction. “The support from the community has been tremendous thus far,” Jenny’s mother, Michele Snyder, said. “I’m excited to see new and familiar faces at this year’s event.” Last summer the Jennifer Lynn Snyder Teen Heart Foundation raised roughly $8,000, enough to purchase five AEDs.
