Simone Musco MD, FACC, FHRS, a cardiac electrophysiologist working at the Providence Medical Group, International Heart Institute of Montana, Providence Saint Patrick Hospital, Missoula, MT, will present a webinar on “Living with your ICD,” which will be available not only for Cardiac Arrest Survivor Alliance (CASA) members, but also for other interested parties. During the webinar, Dr. Musco will define sudden cardiac death (SCD), discuss the causes of SCD, and give an overview of the Chain of Survival. He will also discuss the introduction of the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and current indications. Following this, he will address common concerns from patients with ICDs and their caregivers, such as:

  • Understanding limitations and lifestyle changes with an ICD
  • Legal and insurance concerns regarding ICDs
  • Activities that are safe with ICDs 
  • Undergoing MRIs
  • Emotional impact of ICD shocks on patients and caregivers.

The webinar will include a 15-minute Q & A session.
