Kathleen Simonetti

In the early morning hours of April 14, 2022, Noah’s parents Kathleen and Steven were awoken by strange noises coming from the baby monitor. As they were sleep training 10-month-old son Noah, on a typical night they would hear him stirring. But on this particular day, Noah’s mother Kathleen knew that these noises were not normal.

Kathleen’s Quick Action

Kathleen went into the neighboring room to check on Noah, where she found him gasping for breath. Upon turning on the light, he was blue, and he was limp in her arms when she picked him up. She screamed for Steven, Noah’s Dad, shouting “he’s not breathing, call 911!” She laid Noah on the floor and initiated compressions followed by two breaths as Steven called for emergency services.

After a few minutes, a police officer arrived with an AED followed by the paramedics and they took over CPR. Noah was in ventricular fibrillation and needed to be shocked twice with the AED. Once stabilized, he was transported to the local emergency room.

A Quick Recovery: Grateful!

Thankfully, Noah recovered quickly and brain imaging showed there was no lack of oxygen to the brain or damage incurred.

The doctors said that Kathleen and Steven’s quick action and efficient CPR made all the difference in saving Noah’s life.

Noah’s story highlights the importance of quick action, by both parents and the paramedics for saving little Noah.
