Survivor: George Koskela

Date of Event:

Rescuer(s):
Cyndy Meno

HEARTsafe Eugene Springfield shared the story of an incredible cardiac arrest response and the “mystery” responder who arrived on scene and provided high-quality, life-saving CPR. The lifesaver seemed to come out of nowhere and began compressions well before paramedics arrived.

The PulsePoint Connection

There was a strong suspicion that the responder might be a PulsePoint volunteer. The survivor, George Koskela, and his wife later learned from responding crews that the mystery rescuer was Cyndy Meno, a CPR instructor.

Cyndy had received a PulsePoint CPR-needed alert directing her to George’s location, less than a block away. She responded immediately.

Gratitude in the Classroom

George and his wife surprised Cyndy in her classroom to personally thank her for her lifesaving actions. Her quick response and willingness to help a stranger in need saved George’s life just one day before Valentine’s Day.
