A strange sound took Jaime to her husband. He was grayish and not breathing. She began CPR, calling out his name, hoping for any sign he could hear her. Her voice changed, edged with urgency and fear. Their son and daughter heard it from another room and knew something was terribly wrong. They called 911 and urgently gave the dispatcher the information needed to bring help to their home as quickly as possible.
Immediate CPR and Rapid AED Response
Jaime never stopped performing CPR. Minutes later, a police officer arrived with an AED. The shock restored a pulse almost immediately. Her husband was still unconscious, and he would remain that way for the next week, but his heart was beating again.
The CPR had done its job. It kept blood and oxygen flowing to his brain, protecting him from permanent damage while they waited for help to arrive.
Today, Jaime is grateful to share that he made a full recovery after his sudden cardiac arrest. She knows she could never have shared this outcome without her children’s quick thinking. If they had not called 911, the AED may never have arrived in time.
It was a family effort that brought him back.
