New online community provides a way for SCA survivors to find one another, provide mutual support, and "pay it forward"
PITTSBURGH--The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Network(tm), a program of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, is an online community for:
- Patients and families who have been personally affected by sudden cardiac arrest (SCA)
- Public safety and healthcare professionals
- Other advocates.
The Network provides a way for community members to find others with similar experiences and interests, provide mutual support, and work collaboratively toward common goals. Members can create Facebook-like profile pages, post blogs and forum topics, search for their peers, and “friend” one another. They can also search for other members by name, location, areas of interest, and user-type (e.g., survivor). (Note, members may elect to keep some of their profile information, including user-type, private.)
The new online community provides a way for SCA survivors to connect with one another and "pay it forward."
“We are excited to offer an online community through which sudden cardiac arrest survivors and their loved ones, those who have lost someone to SCA, and other advocates can support one another, share information, and help raise awareness so more lives can be saved,” said Mary Newman, MS, SCA Foundation President. “We invite everyone who is interested in this important lifesaving cause to join the Network and help build the world’s largest and most active online SCA community.”
