Johnnie Davis has joined the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation Board of Directors. Davis, National Field Director at Esprita, is an inspirational speaker, best-selling author, entrepreneur, and success coach. His book I'm Still Here: From Heart Failure to Heart of A Champion is a #1 Amazon Best Seller. He is also one of 25 co-authors of the book Cardiac Athletes, also available on Amazon. Davis has been featured on Fox 46 Charlotte, WBTV, WCNC, Fox Soul TV with Tammi Mac, and Spectrum New Channel 14 in Charlotte, NC. He was recently on the cover of Health Monitor Magazine, June 2020 edition.

Davis is a heart failure and sudden cardiac arrest survivor. “On Christmas Eve 2012 at 3:00 am, I went into sudden cardiac arrest,” said Davis. “It appeared that I'd lost my long-time battle with idiopathic cardiomyopathy. I had no pulse or oxygen to my brain for span of over 16 minutes. My wife administered CPR on me only to witness me take my last breath and die before her very eyes. Four brave firemen arrived at my home shortly afterwards and each administered three hundred chest compressions for a total of 1200, and I was shocked six times with the AED. I began breathing on my own but remained unconscious. I was put into an induced coma for 48 hours. I thank God I'm alive today to share my story.”

A Rutgers University graduate originally from Newark, New Jersey, Davis now resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife Rachel. He inspires thousands of people around the world with his powerful testimony and words of encouragement each day and he's dedicated to making a positive impact in people's lives.

“We are delighted that Johnnie has agreed to join our Board of Directors,” said Henry Jampel, MD, Board Chair. “He has been advocating on his own for greater awareness of sudden cardiac arrest and now he will join forces with us with the goal of reducing death and morbidity from this surprisingly common condition. Johnnie’s communication skills will help spread our message that lives can be saved.”
