SPRINGFIELD, IL-- The Illinois Office of Preparedness and Response has announced the availability of funding for automated external defibrillators (AEDs) through Public Act 95-0721, the Heartsaver AED Fund. The fund provides matching grants for the purchase of AEDs for schools, public park districts, municipal recreation departments, conservation districts, forest preserve districts, colleges and universities in Illinois.

Awards will be made to qualified applicants who demonstrate that they have the funds to pay 50 percent of the cost of the AED for which the matching grant money is sought, at the cost determined by the State Master Contract or the Department. The Heartsaver AED Fund Grant award for FY 2015 is $466.00 or at 50 percent of the purchased AED price if less than $931.48. 
 

The deadline for submission of applications through the Department's Electronic Grant Administration and Management System (EGrAMS) is by close of business Friday, October 31, 2014. Training instructions for completing the grant application are also available on EGrAMS. 

Eligible entities are limited to one matching grant from the fund. Heartsaver AED Fund Grants will be awarded to eligible applicants until funds are exhausted. All applications must go through the Department's EGrAMS process.
