St. Francis de Sales Catholic School Recognized for Winning Video

SALISBURY–The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation today will honor Saint Francis de Sales Catholic School in Salisbury, Maryland, for winning the Foundation’s first video awareness contest. The school will be awarded the grand prize--a new automated external defibrillator (AED). See www.sca-aware.org to view the winning video.

The City Council, represented by Councilwoman Terry Cohen, will issue a special proclamation at the ceremony underscoring the need to continue building awareness among the Salisbury community. Faculty and students will also hear from two survivors of sudden cardiac arrest about the impact AEDs had on their lives. The first, David Belkin, Esq., a member of the Foundation Board of Directors, was saved at an elementary school in Pennsylvania. The second is the school’s new principal, Jude De Lucco.

The ceremony will be followed by a CPR and AED Discovery Session—a hands-on exercise introducing students and faculty to life-saving skills, facilitated by the Health & Safety Institute.

The video contest is part of the Foundation's You Can Save a Life at School™ campaign, sponsored by Boston Scientific, Cardiac Science, Health & Safety Institute, Physio-Control, School Health Corporation, St. Jude Medical Foundation and ZOLL Medical Corporation.
