Pennsylvania SB 115, (Sen. Tom Killion, R-9), which calls for CPR education in grades 9-12, was unanimously approved by the House Education Committee today, with an amendment specifying that the CPR instruction provided by a teacher, instructor or community volunteer must include "participation of a professional educator with a PA certification, including a professional educator certified in physical education or health education or a school nurse."

The bill is expected to next be given a reading in the House, then referred to the House Appropriations Committee, and then go before the full House of Representatives for consideration.

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is a strong supporter of this legislation.
