Jackie Renfrow is on a mission. She wants to see heart screenings in all the schools of Perry Township, Johnson County, IN.

Jackie has a personal reason for implementing this potentially life saving test. Her two children were lost to a condition called Long QT syndrome. They were unaware of this genetic disease, until another family member was diagnosed, luckily before the fatal symptoms appeared.

Jackie knows the testing is worthwhile for another reason. She successfully raised enough money at a charity event in December 2008, to start the testing. “We screened 72 children and found 3 heart problems, and 1 with Long QT!” Jackie said.

With over 14,000 students in the Perry Township she has many more chances to save lives. If Jackie can keep the momentum going she hopes to have regular screening throughout Indiana.
