PITTSBURGH, PA--The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation Board of Directors has elected two new members, Ward M. Hamilton and Henry Jampel, MD, MHS.
Ward Hamilton is Senior Vice President at ZOLL Medical Corporation. Prior to joining the company in 1992, Mr. Hamilton previously held positions as Director of New Business Development and Director of Marketing for Advanced Cardiac Life Support products for Laerdal Medical Corporation, as a Marketing Manager for Datascope Corporation, and with the City of Pasadena, California, as a firefighter and paramedic. He taught health and bioscience at Pasadena City College and has a BA in political science from Hartwick College and a MPA from the University of Southern California. He has worked in the field of emergency care and resuscitation for more than 30 years.
Henry Jampel, MD, MHS, is Odd Fellows Professor of Ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University. He graduated from Harvard summa cum laude in biology and attended the Yale University School of Medicine. He later obtained a Master's degree in health finance and management.
Endurance athletics are Dr. Jampel’s main extracurricular activity. He completed two Ironman distance triathlons in Hawaii in 1999 and in Lake Placid in 2004, and six marathons, including Boston in 2009. In September 2014, he completed his fourth annual three-mile open water swim as part of a fundraiser for the Kimmel Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins.
Dr. Jampel suffered sudden cardiac arrest on May 16, 2000 after a swim workout, and survived thanks to 27 minutes of CPR from fellow swimmers. More...
