Tampa area high school student, Kaitlin Ryan, 16, is passionate about saving lives threatened by sudden cardiac arrest. Her zeal for the cause began in April 2020. She and her father Steve, 49, had gone to the golf course to work on her chipping and putting. Suddenly, she realized he had collapsed on the green. She called her mom, Sharon, called 911, and started CPR. Fortunately, she had learned CPR in middle school and the dispatcher provided coaching. Kaitlin's quick actions helped save his life.

Now the Ryan family wants everyone to understand the importance of immediate CPR, which can double or triple the chance of survival from sudden cardiac arrest. Toward this end, Kaitlin has created a fundraiser, The Chip In for Sudden Cardiac Arrest Golf Fundraiser at Innisbrook, scheduled for June 5, 2021.
“As a result of this incident, I decided to organize this charity golf tournament, where the funds will benefit both the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation and the American Heart Association,” said Kaitlin. “Please join me in supporting this cause to ultimately lower the death rate of those who have sudden cardiac arrest by emphasizing the need for early CPR.”
