Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor Maurice Trosclair releases album, “Grateful--A Sudden Cardiac Arrest Survivor's Awakening to raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest.”

NEW ORLEANS--Heartbeat NOLA continues to spread awareness of the importance of knowing how to perform CPR and having quick and public access to AEDs (automated external defibrillators). On Sunday, Heartbeat NOLA produced its first major fundraising event while partnering with Tipitina’s, one of the world’s most iconic music venues. “A Grateful Heart Celebration” was also an opportunity for Tipitina’s to “pay it forward” as part of Heartbeat NOLA’s strategic plan that includes AED recipients becoming involved in the process of placing the next AED in the New Orleans area. Hundreds attended the event.

This event was so much more than just your basic fundraiser. It was also the official record release of Maurice Trosclair’s first solo album – “Grateful – A sudden cardiac arrest survivor’s awakening” by Miracle Meaux. All original songs were inspired by Maurice’s experience as a sudden cardiac arrest survivor. The songs were brought to life by a myriad of amazing local New Orleans musicians, who performed songs from the album during the event. Over fifteen sponsors contributed to the event including food, beverage, event supplies and décor. The event and album proceeds will go directly to supporting the mission of Heartbeat NOLA. It was an amazing and inspirational event with a message so fitting for the holidays, “to be thankful and grateful for our blessings.”

Trosclair also had the opportunity to meet and publicly recognize his EMS first responders who assisted in his resuscitation on Valentine’s Day 2017.  EMS technicians Carl “Gator” Theriot, Justina Billiot, Joe Diest and Barret Bernard were guests of honor and their emotional reunion with Trosclair was a fitting finale to an extremely successful event.
