When You Die ‘You Know You’re Dead Because Your Brain Keeps Working’, Scientist Claims

We know we are dead when we die because our brains keep working to make us aware of what's happening around us, haunting new research suggests.

Top medical experts have forever been at loggerheads over what happens when humans die, with anecdotal evidence of bright lights and flashes reported by people who have 'come back' being the cause of much debate.

However, a new study suggests your consciousness carries on functioning after your heart stops beating and your body movements fail.

This means you are essentially 'trapped' inside your dead body with your brain still working, if only for a short time.

Survivors of cardiac arrest were aware of what was going on around them while they were 'dead' before being 'brought back to life', the study revealed.

More surprising still, there is evidence to suggest the deceased may even hear themselves being pronounced dead by doctors.

Teen's Mall Trip Could Have Been Her Last, but CPR and an AED Saved the Day

Sydney Ridlehoover had finished her chores and convinced her parents to take her and a friend to the mall near their home outside Columbus, Ohio. Once they arrived, the girls got out of the car and walked ahead, laughing and talking.

Peter Hubby, Sydney's stepfather, saw her fall to the ground before even getting to the mall. He figured the 13-year-old had tripped or was just goofing around. Peter and Tracy Elsinger, Sydney's mom, realized otherwise when she didn't get up.

The Masters come back story after SCA

My body on April 6, 2018 went into Cardiac Arrest. I’ve had 5 stents, 1 ablation, 1 pacemaker, out of work for 4 months, and 36 weeks of cardiac rehabilitation. I was without a pulse for up to 20-25 minutes before the AED was able to get my heart back into rhythm.

My wife’s friends who had invited us to the Masters golf tournament last year where I had my cardiac arrest asked us if we were interested in returning. At first I was reluctant and the more I thought about the invite the more I was determined to appreciate the return visit and to have a prayer at the site where I was victim to Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
