Group Aims to Raise Awareness about Heart Health through "My Climb," a Virtual Learning Experience

LANCASTER, PA– Proving there can be life after heart disease, cardiac survivor, InnerLink CEO, and co-founder of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, Robert G. Gillio, M.D. conceived My Climb, an ascent of Tanzania's highest peak that is coupled with a virtual learning experience to raise awareness of the leading cause of death in the United States. The expedition hopes to not only elevate awareness of heart disease, but also educate school-age adolescents and their families that by making healthy choices they can reduce their risks of developing childhood obesity now and getting heart disease in the future.

Remembering One Daughter, Protecting Another

ANAHEIM HILLS, CA — The Stuewe house is filled with framed photographs of two beautiful girls. In one photo, Melanie, 6 months old, sits on the back of her sister Shauna, who's 4 and a half. The other images show just how much they grew to resemble each other in their teens, with long, blonde hair and wide smiles.

On Thursday, Melanie turns 15, which means she's the big sister now.

The mission of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Foundation is to prevent death and disability from sudden cardiac arrest. The vision of the SCA Foundation is to increase awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and influence attitudinal and behavioral changes that will reduce mortality and morbidity from SCA.
