Donate to help save a life.PITTSBURGH, PA--The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation and Enerspect Medical Solutions have joined forces to enable individuals and organizations to donate $450 to the Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and receive a free, recertified automated external defibrillator (AED). They may also opt to receive a new AED by contributing $1,200.[1]

AEDs are used to restore healthy heart rhythms when people suffer sudden cardiac arrest and their hearts unexpectedly stop beating. SCA affects about 1,000 people each day in the U.S. The chances of survival increase from 10 to 40 percent when AEDs are used quickly by bystanders.

“The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation has a long history of creating community awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and the preparations needed to save lives,” said David Shelton, Enerspect president and CEO. “We all recognize that more lives will be saved through greater proliferation of AEDs,” he said.

“We hope this initiative will enable schools, places of worship, small businesses, and homeowners to become better prepared to treat sudden cardiac arrest,” said Mary Newman, SCA Foundation president. “We believe this partnership will not only strengthen our nonprofit's mission to raise awareness, but will also provide a simple solution for organizations that have struggled with the challenge of raising funds to acquire AEDs.”

[1] The tax-deductible contribution is equal to the value of the donation minus a good faith estimate of the value of the device. The SCA Foundation is manufacturer-neutral and and Enerspect Medical is a distributor that works with all AED companies in the U.S. Entities may also opt to donate $1,200 to the SCA Foundation and receive a new AED through this program.
