Las Vegas casinos are known for having one of the highest rates of survival from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the nation. The rapid use of automated external defibrillators by non-medical security personnel has resulted in exceptional survival rates. Read the landmark article here.
The goal of the Las Vegas Affiliate of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is to help increase survival rates throughout Las Vegas by building a community of individuals passionate about saving lives threatened by sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and working toward common goals.
Specifically, the Affilate aims to redefine the treatment of patients who are at risk of suffering SCA, which can be accomplished by reinforcing patient safety initiatives. The Affiliate aims to save lives and increase awareness by partnering with the state of Nevada, healthcare professionals, hospitals, and businesses. Partnering will increase awareness. As awareness increases, casualties due to SCA will decrease.
Survivor Bruce Evans serves as Coordinator of the Las Vegas Affiliate. "My mission, for the rest of my life, is to leave a legacy of exponentially increased awareness. Awareness is the place where a chance at life for the next victim lies. If I can do anything to save even one person, I will have made a difference."
