The SCA Foundation’s You Can Save a Life at School™ campaign, launched earlier this year, is generating interest in CPR-AED programs in schools across the nation.

It’s Not Too Late to Win an AED for Your School!

Applications are due June 1st.

Ten winners will be selected, and each will receive an AED, donated by Cardiac Science and ZOLL Medical Corporation, both sponsors of the You Can Save a Life at School™ awareness campaign.

SCA Foundation Board Chair Named Fulbright Scholar

Bobby V. Khan, MD, PhD, Chairman of the Board of the SCA Foundation, has been named a Fulbright Scholar.
In his role as a Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Khan will serve as a Visiting Professor at the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada, during the 2009-2010 school year. His research and teaching will address global health and preventive forms of medicine, specifically those related to cardiovascular health.

What Are You Doing to Celebrate CPR-AED Awareness Week?

In late 2007, Congress declared the first week of June as “National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness Week.” Last June, nationwide ceremonies, community activities and educational outreach efforts were conducted across the country.

On June 7th, the last day of 2009's National CPR & AED Awareness Week, HealthSav will host a day of free 1 hour Adult CPR classes using the CPR Anytime platform.

iPhone CPR

Need Real Time CPR Help? This new iPhone App may help...

Mickey Eisenberg, MD, renowned researcher from the University of Washington, has announced the release of a free new Apple iPhone application that instructs users how to treat victims of sudden cardiac arrest.
The application is also available for the Google phone (Android operating system).

"Getting the message on how to do CPR to as many people as possible is crucial if we are to save more lives," Dr. Eisenberg told the SCA Foundation. "Some people are reluctant to sign up for a formal course so we have to try to reach these folks in different ways. Using the web and developing applications for the iPhone and Google phone are ways to reach a broader audience."

The application has seven short videos (about one minute each) on how to perform CPR and aid a choking victim.
