One common topic among survivors is the scar that results from having a tiny defibrillator implanted under the skin to correct abnormal heart rhythms that could occur in the future. For some, the implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) scar is an emblem of triumph over sudden death. For others, it it provides a sense of security. For still others, it presents a fashion challenge.
