It's not only important to get AEDs placed everywhere, but also to get people involved in learning how to use them. It is recommended that you take a course to become certified in AED use, but if you want an overview or review of how to use an AED, you can find it here: http://www.howtodothings.com/health-and … -aed.html.

I am an EMS in a rural,

I am an EMS in a rural, farming/ ranching community. I, because of my training, know how to do CPR and use an AED. But there are too many in our community that do not and are not aware of SCA and the fact that it can happen to anyone, no matter what the age or physical condition. Thank you for all your efforts to educate.

Continuing education and

Continuing education and refreshing of the information learned on a frequent basis is a critical factor in increasing bystander response. Studies show that a victim's chance of surviving sudden cardiac arrest TRIPLES when a bystander performs CPR. Training, refreshing, proper equipment and understanding people's fears of responding are important as we try to increase SCA survival rates.
