About the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation

Mission and Vision

The mission of the Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Foundation is to prevent death and disability from sudden cardiac arrest. The vision of the SCA Foundation is to increase awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and influence attitudinal and behavioral changes that will reduce mortality and morbidity from SCA. Specifically, we envision that our efforts will help:

  • Increase the rate of bystander CPR in cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest from 30% to 50%
  • Increase the rate of bystander use of AEDs in cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest from <5% to 10%
  • Increase the rate of survival to hospital discharge from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest from 10% to 25%.

Ultimately, we envision a day when survival from sudden cardiac arrest is the norm, rather than the exception.
